Solar power is running out of steam in Britain

Government cutbacks to what was once a lucrative solar energy market have led to a wave of UK solar installers shutting down.

The solar energy industry in Britain was thriving just a few years ago, today the industry is on its last legs.

In 2010 the Government introduced a huge solar subsidy for homeowners and businesses that invested in the then expensive and experimental technology.

Indeed since the turn of the century Britain has added more solar capacity than any other European country, largely due to the boost provided by the so-called Feed in Tariff paid directly to the owners of solar panels based on the power they generated.
